Mika "Gas" Karppinen (born Mika Kristian Karppinen) February 8, 1971 in Eskilstuna, Sweden is currently the drummer in the Finnish band, HIM and he has been so since 1999. He is also the drummer for Finnish Deathgrind, To Separate the Flesh from the Bones under the alias "Pus Sypope". He has various nicknames and they are Gas Lipstick,Buddha Cognac,Mike Ceer and Stobbe. Among these, Gas Lipstick is the best known one. He also performs in the rock band Bendover, whose members are all over 250 pounds. Before pursuing a career in music, Gas was a carpenter.He's a Slayer and Discharge addict and he loves old Metallica.His idols are Daniel Lioneye,Dave Lombardo,Darius Kasparaitis,Krzysztof Oliwa and Herra no.66.His favorite movie is Scarface,whereas his favorite city is New York.He plays drums open handed, playing the hi-hat cymbals with his left hand, and the ride cymbal positioned just to the left of the hi-hat.His most remarkable technique is the the application of three bass drums,with the name HIM on them.That influences much in HIM's gothic sound as for recording sessions,as for live performances
